During the summer transfer window in 2023, Chelsea will try to acquire the services of the forward Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig to further improve their offensive capabilities. In one year, the forward will be one of the Blues’ top priorities when it comes to signing free agents.

This summer, Nkunku extended his stay with Leipzig by penning a new deal. Before he agreed to his most recent contract, the German club estimated that he was worth almost £100 million. On the other side, Chelsea is interested in him more than other players like AC Milan’s Rafa Leao or Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic. Chelsea has him ranked higher on their priority list.

In the wake of Sadio Mane’s departure from Liverpool, the 24-year-old French international was rumored to be interested in a move to the club. However, Liverpool ultimately decided to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica instead. At this point, it appears as though he is going to continue his career at Leipzig for at least one more year.

Nkunku, a product of the Paris Saint-Germain youth program, joined Leipzig in the summer of 2019 when he was 18 years old. Since then, he has demonstrated steady growth, and during the previous season, he turned forth one of the best performances he has ever given constantly.

Because the 24-year-old contributed to more than one goal during each of his 52 appearances across all competitions during the previous campaign, he had an average of more than one goal contribution per appearance. When it comes to his position, he is a threat to the defense whether he is playing number 10 or anywhere else across the forward line.

There is no question that Nkunku is now producing elite stats and has the potential to be one of the best forwards in Europe for many years to come. There is also no question that Nkunku can be one of the best forwards in Europe. At the age of 24, it is reasonable to assume that he still has some rough spots in his game that can be polished up to make him the best he can be during his peak years.

If Chelsea can keep a close eye on him throughout the current season and make a move very early next summer, they will have the opportunity to get a readymade top-quality player who can come in and be a game-changer right away.
