This weekend marks an important milestone for Mikel Arteta, as it will be his 100th game in charge of the club while playing in the Premier League.

The manager took over the team for the first time on Christmas Day 2019, when we played Bournemouth to a 1-1 draw away from home. On Saturday, he will become our third manager in club history to reach 100 wins in the Premier League.

If Mikel is successful against Fulham, he would have won 53 of his first 100 games, putting him in the same company as George Graham and Arsène Wenger. They also won their milestone games to commemorate the occasion.

That is 15 more than what George could do, and it is just one less than what Arsène did. We have scored 157 goals and collected 172 points over his 99 games played thus far.

During his pre-game press conference, Mikel was asked about the accomplishment, and he responded by saying, “I’ve just found out about it – time flies!”

“Being a part of this football club and reaching that number is such an honor, and I hope we can continue this for a very long time and bring a lot of happiness and victories along the way.”

In those 99 games, there have already been a lot of highs and lows at various points. Mikel has faced at least 23 different teams, winning at least one match against each of them (except Manchester City), and employed at least 43 other players.

Under the manager’s direction, Bukayo Saka has participated in more games than any other player (90), although Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to lead the team in scoring 25 goals.

The most significant victory occurred on his second anniversary as manager, when his team defeated Norwich City 5-0 on the road on December 26, 2021. This was his most significant win to date.

When the boss was asked what he had gained by playing 99 games up to that point, he responded, “How difficult and lovely life is when you win or lose!” Especially in light of that. And then, take a look back, analyzing the journey, the numerous things that have transpired, and how each choice matters. It’s essential to be consistent, and all you have to do is stand by what you believe in because, in the end, things will work out.

And while they were on the road, did the boss ever have any moments of self-doubt?

“Since we are human beings, we are prone to question,” he said. “Most notably, when you are unsuccessful in football matches. When the environment shifts and you cannot find a legitimate means to win matches, although you deserve to, you will need to find alternative ways to adapt to survive.

“There are times when you just have to do that, but at the end of the day, you have to feel what you do because that’s the best way to transmit it, especially to your players and then to your supporters and everyone else around the club, and that’s what we’ve tried to do at all times,” he said. “Sometimes you have to do that, but at the end of the day, you must feel what you do because that’s the best.

Mikel will become the 14th manager in our entire history to take control of 100 league games when he does so, but here is how his record compares to those of the two managers who have done so in the Premier League thus far:
